SFP is specifically designed for the high performance integrated duplex data link over single-mode or multimode optical fiber. This transceiver module is compliant with the Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) Multi-source Agreement (MSA). With the hot pluggability, these modules offer an easy way to be installed into SFP MSA compliant ports at any time without the interruption of the host equipment operating online. For optional DDM function, an enhanced Digital Diagnostic Monitoring Interface has been incorporated into the Axcen SFP Transceiver. Real time monitors of temperature, supply voltage, laser bias current, laser average output power and receiving output power are provided, based on the SFF-8472. The applications include: (for 1.25Gbps) 1xFibre Channel, Gigabit Ethernet, High speed I/O for file server, Mass storage system I/O, Host adapter I/O, and Bus extension application. (for 155Mbps) ATM switches and routers, Fast Ethernet, and SONET/SDH switch infrastructure.
